“I’ve decided to only make a few artist studio paintings this year because that will allow me time to experiment. I have learned so many lessons from my favorite painters, and am beginning to put that knowledge into practice.

I live in Santa Monica and feel inspired to paint California. This state is full of farms which provide so much for the rest of the world. There is one farm near San Diego which grows only poppies. Those fields remind me of the colorful fields that Van Gogh loved to paint. Like us, flowers grow from a seed and each are unique. They transform from being delicate to being vibrant. They are nourished by the earth, the rain and the sun, and then they wither and die.”
